Topics covered

1. Why did you choose to study in Australia?

I am originally from Philippines and the reason why I choose Australia is because it is a multicultural country, and I want to develop my vocabulary and enhance my grammar with English as my third language.

2. How was IDP able to help you?

When I arrived in Australia, I chose IDP due to their understanding and accommodating nature. The multicultural team at IDP assisted me throughout my visa application process, transitioning from a tourist visa to a student visa, and provided guidance for my first-ever IELTS exam.

3. Are there any (major) challenges you faced?

The big challenge for me is the weather here—it's all over the place in different states and territories. Right now, I'm in Canberra, dealing with four seasons. From December to February, it's summer; March to May is Autumn; September to November is Spring, and the rest is winter. It's confusing for me because back in my home country, we only had two seasons: wet and dry.

4. What are your goals for your career in Australia?

In Australia, I aspire to be a successful entrepreneur. My objective is to hone my skills and acquire knowledge, ultimately establishing my own business in the near future.

5. Is there any advice for international students?

For all the students with aspirations, I suggest continuing to dream and exploring new skills. Focus on studying smart rather than just working hard, and prioritize maintaining a work-life balance to ensure good mental health.
