1. Why did you choose to study in Australia?

Although I am from Taiwan originally, I made the choice to pursue my studies in Australia because the University of New South Wales provided a dual degree program encompassing Secondary Education and Fine Arts, along with a specialization in textiles—a field I had a keen interest in.

2. How was IDP able to help you?

I selected IDP because I had previously used their services through an IDP agent when applying for my university program in Taiwan. Given my favourable prior experience, I decided to use IDP again for my endeavours in Australia.

3. Are there any (major) challenges you faced?

Even though I didn't face any major challenges, there were a couple of small issues I had to figure out. For example, because of Covid-19, my student visa was going to expire a few days before I finished my course. I talked to my IDP education counsellor, and they told me that applying for a 408 visa was the best solution in this situation, which was something I didn't know about before.

4. What are your goals for your career in Australia?

After graduating, my aim was to secure a job in line with my field of study. I am currently working as a full-time high school teacher!

5. Is there any advice for international students?

I would highly recommend making the most of your time studying abroad by making friends, applying for jobs outside of your field, traveling, etc. Along with studying, this is a great opportunity for you to branch out and build personal and professional connections.
