Medical Universities Requirements in Australia

Each university has its own requirements, and each one is different from the other. In Australia, there are two types of medical school admission requirements: undergraduate and postgraduate.

Undergraduate Requirements

  • You must first pass the Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT).
  • International students will also need an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 7.0, with no individual sub-score less than 7.0, as proof of English language proficiency.

Postgraduate Requirements

  • Applicants must have earned or are enrolled in their final year of a bachelor’s degree program in a related science subject.
  • Candidates must take and pass the GAMSAT (Graduate Australian Medical School Admissions Test).
  • Have proven work experience and a strong portfolio.
