Olin J Eggen Research Award

The Selection Committee will consider the information provided in the Thesis Progress report (or Thesis Proposal) and Annual Progress Talk (or Proposal Talk) as well as assessing students based on the following criteria:

• Originality and feasibility of the research
• Impact, or potential for impact, in the relevant research field
• Research achievements and accomplishments (e.g., submitted or published refereed papers, conference presentations) and
• Good citizenship and engagement with the RSAA and wider community (e.g., outreach activities, committee representation).

The committee will take into account any program leave of absence.

The committee will seek to distribute the awards to students at different levels (e.g., one award for students who have completed up to one year of program, one for students who have completed between one and two years of program, and one for students who completed two and three years of program by June 30), but reserves the right to revise the distribution.

The award will be offered to an applicant who:

• is and remains an international student
• is enrolled in the PhD program at RSAA and is working on a project in Astronomy & Astrophysics
• has completed all of the required milestones to the satisfaction of the Delegated Authority.

Any student meeting the above criteria will automatically be considered for the award
