Founded in 1863, Huron University is the founding institution of Western University, one of Canada's oldest universities. A liberal arts university, Huron University offers a meaningful range of study programs spanning 15 core subject areas, where students graduate with an internationally esteemed Western University degree, ranked in the top 1 percent worldwide (QS2024).
Classes are taught by world-renowned professors who take the opportunity to get to know each student individually, working with them to achieve their goals. In addition to its own range of programs, Huron University boasts exclusive partnerships with Ivey Business School and Harvard Business School Online. Students also have the option to tailor their study program closer to their interests by taking courses or enrolling in double majors from the 400 programs offered at Western University such as computer science, biology, media etc.

The university is home to an overall population of 2,000 students. Twenty percent of the student body is international, representing over 50 countries from around the world.

At Huron University, students may enroll on a study program in either arts and social science, management and organizational studies, or theology. Beyond this, courses are divided by subject area, covering:
A number of distinct courses and modules are available within each subject. Students can elect to receive a major, minor, specialization, or honors specialization in chosen areas, enabling them to tailor their learnings to their personal interests and ambitions.
Students can opt to undertake all their studies at Huron University, or can combine their study program with one at Western University. Students are can take classes and combine majors from the 400 programs offered by Western University.
Huron University is also one of only two institutions in Canada to hold a formal partnership with the esteemed Harvard Business School Online.
All students must meet the academic entry requirements for their chosen study program. These may vary between subjects and courses.

Students are also encouraged to provide a personal statement as well as any other supporting documents such as extracurriculars, recommendations etc.
International students must also meet the university's English language requirements. For most courses, this is a minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band score less than 6.0, or an equivalent qualification.
Students who do not meet the English language requirements but meet the admission criteria will receive a conditional offer of admission and will be automatically be offered a placement at Western's English Language Centre.
Students at Huron University enjoy a comprehensive range of modern resources and equipment, carefully chosen to complement each study program. Much of the university's infrastructure has been built or renovated in recent years, and offers thousands of square feet of innovative and inspiring learning spaces. Huron's campus is located in the heart of Western University.
Library
Students have access to Huron Library and its expansive selection of books, journals, and learning resources. A number of group and individual study spaces are available, and students have access to tutoring, writing and research support.
Residences
In Fall 2024, Huron opened a new CAD 61 million state of the art residence, housing 300 new students. All new full-time first-year students are guaranteed a spot in one of Huron University's four residence buildings on campus, provided they apply before the deadline. Rooms offered include singles, doubles, and suites. Communal areas encourage a community atmosphere, and social events are planned throughout the year.
Average fees for residences range from CAD 10,225 – CAD 12,900 per year.
Students may also elect to rent privately off campus. The university has a number of resources to assist students in finding suitable accommodation.
Meal plan
The university offers a standard all-you-care-to-eat meal plan, which all students living on campus must participate in. The set price of CAD 6,490 covers all meals for the academic year.
Huron University awards over CAD 5.5 million in financial aid to students every year, available in the form of scholarships, financial aid, bursaries, and grants. This amount is double the per-student average of Canadian universities, making its courses amongst the most accessible in the country.
All first-year international students are automatically considered for the following scholarships:
This entrance scholarship is based on the content of a student's application and prior academic success. The total value is CAD 4,000 – CAD 60,000 (CAD 1,000 – CAD 15,000 per year).
International students studying at a Canadian high school when they apply to Huron University are automatically assessed for this scholarship. The total value is CAD 40,000 over four years, plus CAD 1,000 in the final year to put towards one of the university's international academic experiences.
Eligible international students may also apply for the following scholarships. Students are advised to carefully check the full conditions, as well as any important application requirements and deadlines prior to applying.
Eligible international students with a minimum mid-year average of 90 percent, as well as a strong extracurricular record, may apply. This scholarship is valued at full tuition.
International students who can demonstrate financial need may apply for assistance through the Huron International Financial Aid form. The amount of financial aid provided may range from five to 50 percent of a student's tuition fees.
Other scholarships, bursaries, and grants may be available depending on a student's specific circumstances and/or study program.
In September 2024, Huron University will launch a new major in China studies, forming part of the university's Chinese, Japanese, and East Asia Studies program. The major enables students to deepen their knowledge and understanding of Chinese literature, culture, language, and society. The course offers students the chance to explore the subject with a global perspective, finding new connections and perspectives that will aid their influence and efficacy in future careers.
Also from September 2024, students will be able to study a major in animal ethics and sustainability. A global first, this major will enable students to explore the laws and policies around animal protection, sustainable business strategies, ethical debates on species protection, the ever-changing relationships between nature and technology, and future plans for climate action.
