As you work on your Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (B.A.J), you'll collaborate with peers on portfolio-building projects in timely courses, and you can make a difference on campus by creating student media. Our alumni & mdash, working for organizations such as The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, and Eli Lilly and Company & mdash, serve as guest speakers and as connections to internships and even full-time jobs. Trained, ethical storytellers are more important now than ever during a public health crisis and in a world where truth is under fire. At IUPUI, youll learn how to create balanced, informed news that moves public opinion, and how ethical, strategic public relations creates a dialogue that improves our communities and empowers truthful, honest journalism.
As an undergraduate with a concentration in sports journalism, you are positioned to learn from seasoned pros and to cover high-level games and events as a student journalist. Courses like Sports, Scandals, and Society and Sports Journalism Writing prepare you with the fundamentals of researching, interviewing, reporting, writing, and editing. Students have written articles, game re-caps, and athlete/coach profiles for teams and events such as the Colts, the Pacers, the Fever, the NFL Combine, IUPUI Athletics, and the Horizon League men's and women's basketball tournaments.
