RMIT's study programs are offered across four academic colleges and 16 academic schools. The colleges are:
The College of Business and Law delivers engaging and industry relevant education. It is well known for its applied research and is among the largest business schools in the Asia-Pacific region. It comprises six schools offering programs from traineeship to PhD levels.
The College of Design and Social Context teaches programs in architecture, art, design, education, fashion, media and communication, property management and social studies. Students can study these programs across RMIT schools from three Melbourne campuses. Studies are designed to meet personal, professional and vocational needs with a focus on academic excellence and employment outcomes.
The STEM College comprises of four schools across Melbourne's City and Bundoora campuses, offering programs that range from certificates through to PhDs in sciences, engineering, computing technologies and health and medical sciences. The college's globally recognised researchers, supported by state-of the-art facilities, work to address issues of global importance and concerns at the local, national and international levels.
The College of Vocational Education offers study options in the areas of design and technology, business, media, engineering technology, art and communication, nursing, social care, myotherapy, computer science, dental studies, trades and the built environment. High quality vocational (TAFE) courses are available as diplomas, advanced diplomas, certificates and associate degrees.
In order to gain admission to courses at RMIT, students must meet academic and English language entry requirements.
Students must check program specific entry requirements. In case they do not meet these requirements, they must take up vocational education and foundation programs that offer pathway options.
Students may also be required to attend an interview, submit a portfolio and provide some more information for the pre-selection kit.
RMIT University also requires students to meet the minimum language requirements. Scores obtained in accepted English proficiency tests such as IELTS and TOEFL will be used to evaluate students' language proficiency. The minimum score required on the IELTS is 7.5 and the minimum TOEFL score requirement is 79. Students can visit the website to check for other valid English tests.
The English for Academic Purposes program helps students prepare for university by teaching them academic language, as well as using materials suitable for academic coursework. Students will also practice university level study skills through this program.
One of the distinctive features of this program is that it is taught utilising a task-centred approach, providing students with several opportunities to practice what they learn. It not only promotes the progress of language and academic skills, but also provides opportunities to enrich students' international experience.

The RMIT Trading Facility (RTF) is one of the biggest tertiary-based facilities in Australia, located at the RMIT City campus in Melbourne's Central Business District (CBD). Equipped with live market data feed from the likes of Thomson Reuters and several financial analysis tools, the RTF allows students to get real-world and practical experience in trading.
RMIT offers international students a range of scholarships across all fields of study. Scholarships may be awarded based on academic achievement, the subjects taken, the region students are from or personal circumstances. The latest QS World University Rankings by Subject has seen RMIT secure its position as Australia's leading institution in the design and creative fields, with Architecture / Built Environment and Art & Design both ranked number one nationally and in the global top 20.
The improvement in rankings was driven by strong performance in academic reputation and research measures, which enhanced RMIT's international standing among peers. It is also evidence of the calibre of RMIT graduates who are making a significant difference in their respective fields and an impactful, positive contribution to their industry and society at large.
