The commonwealth scholarship aims to give international students from commonwealth countries a chance to pursue postgraduate degrees in the UK. Basically, the scholarship scheme caters to students from commonwealth nations to study in the UK.
Most of these scholarships are fully funded i.e., they will cover your tuition fees, your airfare to and from the UK, and living expenses to support you while you are studying in the UK.

The duration of the scholarship varies based on the course such as for master’s it’s one year and three years in the case of PhD.

In order to apply for the Common Wealth Scholarships, you will need to meet the eligibility criteria, which is:
Permanent resident or a citizen of a Commonwealth country. Also, you can be eligible if you are a British contacted person or a refugee
An undergraduate in an honours degree of at least upper second class i.e., 2:1
In the case of a PhD, a relevant master’s degree is also required
Note: You will need to show that you are unable to afford studies in the UK without the scholarship.
To begin with your online application, you need to submit a scanned copy of the passport, existing university degree certificate, academic transcripts, and two references but in case you have one then your admission letter will be required.
These scholarships which are funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) which, cover six CSC development themes:
Science and technology for development
Strengthening health systems and capacity
Promoting global prosperity
Strengthening global peace, security, and governance
Strengthening resilience and response to crises
Access, inclusion, and opportunity
Although there are no restrictions on the choice of subjects, the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission prioritise applicants whose studies are comparatively relevant to the development criteria.
Generally, the annual deadlines for the applications are in December but it can vary based on the type of post-graduate degree and you can apply for the same through a university or National Nominating Agency or Non-Governmental Organisation.
