Know more about Scotland’s Saltire scholarship in India

Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships are a scholarship program by the Scottish Government in collaboration with Scottish universities. It is offered in the areas of creative industries, technology, science, medical sciences, healthcare, and renewable and clean energy.

These scholarships offer up to 50 awards of each £8,000, which includes tuition fees for any one year of full-time postgraduate master’s program at any Scottish higher education institution.

Note: The additional costs and expenses are to be borne solely by the student.

Eligibility requirements

To apply for the Scotland Saltire Scholarships, you should have:

  • A conditional or unconditional offer of your desired Scottish university on an eligible course* to be delivered physically or via distance online learning or via a combination of the two
    * This postgraduate master’s level course should be in either of the streams i.e., Science, Technology, Creative industries, Healthcare, medical sciences, Renewable and clean energy

  • Citizenship of any country covered by the scholarship (India is covered)

  • Financial proofs to exhibit that you can meet the costs of living in Scotland (wherever applicable) and any excess tuition fees in addition to the aforesaid amount

  • Minimum language proficiency test score for the course

  • Not have previously studied in Scotland

  • Not have previously received a Saltire Scholarship

Eligible courses (PG Master level courses)

Science, Technology, Healthcare and medicines, Creative industries, Renewable and clean energy

As an additional requirement for skills and experience you will have to demonstrate:

  • An interest to study in Scotland or the desired Scottish university

  • The aspiration to work and study globally and take up a leadership position in the chosen career

  • Essential interpersonal and communication skills to participate in the activities of the program included in the scholarships

Special conditions

You must be enrolled at a Scottish university and commence your first year at the Scottish university

You will be required to show an unconditional or conditional offer letter of your desired university before the reviewal of your application

Requirements after seeking the Scotland Saltire Scholarship

The Saltire scholarship encourages students for overall development and hence to continue availing the benefits of the Saltire Scholarships, you need to:

  • Maintain a standard of conduct for the good reputation of the scholarship program and the institution

  • Actively participate in the programme’s extra-curricular activities

  • Post on social media about your experience in Scotland

  • Be available for an interview during the end or starting of the year

  • Permit the authorities to use your photograph, blogs, quotes etc. for marketing purposes

The application window for Satire Scholarships is closed for the 2022 programme and will reopen in the spring of 2023.
