Admission process for universities in New Zealand

Here’s what steps to take after you have shortlisted the universities and courses you want to apply for:

  1. To start the process of studying in New Zealand, begin by shortlisting universities and courses that align with your interests. Once you have decided, visit the official websites of these universities to gather important information such as application deadlines, required documents, and admission tests.

  2. Be sure to take any required exams, such as IELTS, GRE, or GMAT, and prepare your Statement Of Purpose (SOP) accordingly.

  3. You will have to write a Statement of Purpose to make the faculty understand the reason for pursuing the selected course and why you have chosen their country and university. Your SOP is an important way to showcase your interests and interact with your desired universities.

  4. Additionally, gather valuable Letters of Recommendation (LORs) from previous employers, faculty, and mentors to further emphasise your dedication to your chosen field.

  5. Applications for higher education in New Zealand are made directly to the universities you want to study at. Here’s what you will need:

    • A complete and relevant application form. You can avail it online but the completed application with documents must be sent by post or courier

    • In case you are from a non-English speaking country, you will need to translate your degrees, and grades and send them

    • The institution will send you a letter if you are offered a place. It will contain all the information on start dates, course details, and an invoice for your tuition fees

    • Once you receive this letter, you must apply for your student visa

    • When you have paid the fees, you will receive a confirmation letter, and this must be kept carefully because you will need this for your visa application

    • On getting your visa, you will have to organise your travel and finances. You may contact the university for help with housing and airport pick-up

  6. Once you have completed your applications, prepare for any interviews that may be required. If you are accepted into your desired New Zealand university, apply for a student visa, and plan your travel arrangements accordingly.
