You have decided to become an international student and receive your education in the UK. You have made your applications to universities and finally received an acceptance letter called "offer letter".Now you need to proceed with the visa procedures. If you are not careful about visa procedures, perhaps this process is one of the most important steps to be followed, as the visa refusal you will receive will cause problems in your education.

1 - Student Route, Tier 4 ~ General Student Visa Application Conditions

You must make sure that you are applying for the correct visa. First of all, you must be over the age of 16 and go to the UK for higher education. For this, you must have received an acceptance letter. You must show that you have English language proficiency and that you have a budget to cover your education and living expenses.

Depending on the length of education you will receive, you must cover the tuition fees of at least one academic year. Of course, how much budget you need to allocate for this may vary depending on where you will study. If you are studying in London, it is recommended that you allocate an average of £ 1334 a month, if you are going to study in a city outside of London, an average of £ 1023 per month. Source*

2 - The documents you need

If you are applying for a visa, it is certain that you must have a valid passport. You will need to support the financial competence we mentioned above with documents. Apart from these, you will need to have a tuberculosis test. If you are under the age of 18, you must document parental consent, along with your identity register copy.

If you are not applying from a country whose native language is English, you may need to document your English language proficiency while traveling to the UK. If you have already submitted a document showing your English language proficiency to the institution you are applying to, you can usually use this document in your visa application. However, for more information, IDP Turkey's expert consultants can help you recover the documents you need for a visa.

3- When to apply?

It is recommended that you apply for a visa 6 months before the start date of your education. The duration of your stay, or visa validity, may vary depending on the education you apply for. Candidates applying for undergraduate degrees usually have the right to stay in the UK for 5 years, but for shorter studies it can usually take 2 years. If your education is less than six months, you can travel to the country one week before your studies. If your education is longer than six months, you can travel a month before your studies begin. If you are going to apply for a visa outside of the UK, the student visa application fee is set at £ 348. It usually takes 3 weeks for your visa application to reach a decision. In some circumstances, you can speed up the processing time of your application with an extra fee for a faster decision.

During the application period, you will need to obtain a biometric residence permit from the visa application office for your visa. You may need to make an appointment for your fingerprints and digital face photos.
