What is UEC?

How does it work?

The Malaysian Independent Chinese Secondary Schools (MICSS) system requires students to complete six years of Chinese primary education to prepare for UEC.

Furthermore, UEC students can register for either Unified Examination or Vocational Unified Examination, depending on the streams in the Senior Middle level.

Basic Requirements

Below is a list of basic requirements needed based on the UEC Malaysia grading system to study in countries like Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Canada, and Ireland.

Destination	Basic requirements *T&C apply
Australia	Overall average of the best five academic subjects (excluding language subjects) with a minimum of at least B4 - B6 score.
New Zealand	Most universities would require a maximum of 20 points over five academic subjects (excluding language subjects) (calculated on the basis that A1= 1 point, A2= 2 points, B3= 3 points) with a minimum of at least a B3 score.
United Kingdom	Most universities require an A1 - B3 score of the overall average of the best five academic subjects (excluding language subjects).
Canada	UEC can be accepted but grade requirement differs according to the university.
Ireland	Overall average of the best five academic subjects (excluding language subjects) with a minimum of at least B4 - B6 score.
