As a Mauritian student applying to UK institutions, you should know that UK colleges and universities offer three major intakes. Intakes may also be referred to as terms in some institutions. The three intakes available in the UK are:
Term 1: September to December
Term 2: January to April
Term 3: April to June
It can get a bit confusing to choose the intake that’s best for you. Consider factors like the availability of your preferred program, your academic records, entrance test scores, acceptance rates, job opportunities and your readiness to join the program whilst making a decision.
While most Mauritians students prefer the September intake, January and April intakes are equally good for certain programs. We suggest, if you do not have your score cards ready, it’s better to skip the haste and apply for the next intake.
The deadlines for each intake are usually a few months before the start date. It is highly recommended that you apply early to maximize your chances for admission. Some universities even offer rolling admissions, i.e. admissions are open through the year. The major intake for the UK is the Fall intake which offers the highest degree of competition but also features the largest number of corporate internships.
All UG courses applications are regulated by UCAS (UK based Universities and Colleges Admissions Service).
