You will need the following for an undergraduate degree in the UK:

  • Minimum required grade in Class XII: You will need at least 67% (GPA: 2.9 out of 4.0) to make it to the popular UK universities

  • English proficiency proof: A minimum of 5.5-6.5 score in IELTS , While taking the LSAT (Law School Admission Test) is not mandatory for studying law in the UK, some universities may require you to qualify for the LNAT (Law National Admission Test), the National Admission Test for Law in the UK.

Eligibility to study law at a postgraduate level in the UK 

A postgraduate degree in law, i.e., LLM, is aimed at enhancing your existing knowledge in law and helping you gain expertise in a specific area like Human Rights, Corporate law, Immigration law, etc.

To be eligible to study LLM in the UK, you will typically need the following:

  • Minimum required score in LLB: The requirement usually varies from 55% to 65% in Law degree in India

  • English proficiency proof: A minimum of 6.5- 7.0 score in IELTS.

Universities in the UK may allow you to apply for LLM without any background in law as long as you demonstrate the required knowledge and skills.

Cost and duration

Bachelor of law or LLB typically takes about three years to complete. Postgraduation or LLM usually lasts about a year.
The tuition fee for undergraduate law schools in the UK ranges from £12,000 to £20,000 each academic year.
The tuition fee for postgraduate law schools in the UK for an LLM degree may range from £14,000 to £30,000.
