be a UK home student enrolled on a full-time or part-time Manchester Met undergraduate degree*
be an estranged student
be identified as estranged by the Student Loans Company
have a UK Student Support Number (English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Ireland students)
*If you are repeating without attendance or suspended from your course, you may still be able to apply but please contact us to check your eligibility.
WHO IS ESTRANGED?
An estranged student is someone who:
is under the age of 25
has not had any contact with either parent (biological or adoptive) for a significant period of time, and this is unlikely to change. Usually, a significant period means 12 months or more, but it can be less in severe or exceptional cases of estrangement.
You can apply every year. If you received a bursary payment last year, you must re-apply this year as the bursary is not automatically reassessed. We rely on an application from you each year.
