Selection criteria:
The Scholarships are funded by the interest on contributions from friends, colleagues, family and the ANU Endowment for Excellence. Two Scholarships will be offered annually subject to funds beings available.
The award is available each year to an ANU student who is:
(a) a domestic and/or international student
(b) enrolled in a program of study leading to the award of a PhD and
(c) undertaking research in areas of probability, statistical science or stochastic analysis.
Applications must be submitted within twelve months of the recipient commencing their research program. No assistance is payable after this time, or after termination of an award.
The award cannot be extended, and a person can hold the award only once.
Applications shall be called for with an annual closing date set by the Mathematical Sciences Institute, and advertised on the ANU scholarships website.
A cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of how the applicant plans to use the award, three references and any other relevant supporting documentation should be forwarded by email to the Senior Administrative Officer (HDR and Education), Mathematical Sciences Institute, prior to the closing date.
An instructor or supervisor, with the consent of the student, can forward application information on behalf of a student.
Selection is made on the basis of academic merit. Other factors such as the reports of academic referees may also be taken into consideration.
The award will be offered to a student by a selection committee chaired by the Director, Mathematical Sciences Institute (or nominee), which will also include the Director, Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Statistics (or nominee), and at least one other faculty member whose research interests include at least one of the following fields: probability, statistical science or stochastic analysis.
