Selection criteria:
In making the recommendation, the Dean (or nominee) will give equal consideration to: a. ability to write clearly in English and b. any history of not having come to university directly from school and of having worked in the intervening period.
The Dean (or nominee) will also consider academic achievement, but will give this criterion less weighting than the first two criteria.
Applicants who are previous holders of the scholarship will be given equal consideration with new applicants.
If, in any year, there is no candidate of sufficient merit, no scholarship will be awarded.
The purpose of this scholarship is to support undergraduate Engineering students at the University of Canterbury, with preference given to those who did not come to university directly from school, but who worked in the intervening period.
Tenure: One year
Applicants must be enrolled full-time in Engineering at the University in any Professional Year of a programme for a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours degree (BE(Hons)).
Applications will be accepted from students who came directly to university from secondary school, but preference will be given to those who did not come to university directly from school and who worked in the intervening period
