You were assessed as an 'independent student through estrangement' by Student Finance England, Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland or the Student Awards Agency Scotland at any point during your undergraduate degree.
You are from a low participation neighbourhood as measured by Polar 4 (quintile 1) and/or you come from one of the most deprived areas of the country as defined by the government's IMD (Indices of Multiple Deprivation) database. If your postcode IMD value is 16,250 or less, you meet this criteria.
You are a carer for an ill or disabled family member and you are in receipt of Carers Allowance prior to enrolling on your course, or are able to provide proof that you are a carer.
You have been in receipt of one of the following Warwick scholarships throughout your undergraduate course: Warwick Scholars, Multicultural Scholars, Lloyds Scholars.
Applications will not be considered for those who do not meet this eligibility criteria.
The University of Warwick is seeking to encourage applications to postgraduate study from students least represented in the University community. We will therefore be awarding additional points to those whose application and supporting documentation can demonstrate any of the following additional criteria noted on our website.
Course Exclusions please note that the following courses are not eligible for this funding:
▪ Part-time Masters courses studied over more than the maximum of 2 years
▪ Module based courses not achieving 180 CATS over a 1 year full-time or 2-year part-time course (ie Executive MBA course)
▪ Distance Learning courses
▪ Postgraduate Diplomas or Postgraduate Certificates
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply, you need to meet the following eligibility criteria:
Part 1 - General eligibility criteria (you must be able to answer ‘yes' to all 3 questions)
Are you applying for an eligible Masters course, studying full-time (1 year) or part-time (2 years),
Are you eligible to pay tuition fees at the Home fee rate?
Can you confirm that you do not already hold a Masters (or Integrated Masters) or PhD qualification?
Part 2 - Under-represented groups in Postgraduate Taught study criteria (you must be able to answer ‘yes' to at least 1 question)
If you started your undergraduate course prior to August 2016: You were in receipt of a full or partial maintenance grant from the UK Government as an undergraduate?
If you started your undergraduate course after August 2016: you were eligible for a means tested maintenance loan from the UK Student Loans Company and your residual household income was assessed as £40,000 or less?
Are/were you in receipt of a special support grant from the UK government for your undergraduate course?
Did you receive Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) whilst studying, or do you receive Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payment (PIP)?
Additional consideration will be given to applicants who can answer yes to any of the Part 3 criteria of the below. Please indicate all criteria that apply to you.
Applications which do meet any of the Part 3 criteria will be prioritised over those which do not.
Part 3 - Under-represented groups in Postgraduate Taught study
You were aged 21+ on the first day of your undergraduate course.
You entered University at undergraduate level from a Care background / Care Leaver or as a Foyer resident.
