You don’t have to spend your study breaks at home, there’s plenty of exciting places to visit all around the UK – and most are easy (and relatively cheap) to get to.

London is a bright, bustling city, full of iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, Tower of London and Buckingham Palace. Further afield in England, you can walk alongside one of the world’s most famous prehistoric monuments, Stonehenge, admire the engineering feats of ancient Roman Britain at Hadrian’s Wall or explore the university towns of Cambridge and Oxford.
Whether you prefer the buzz of a city like Edinburgh or Glasgow, or the beauty of the highland mountains, Scotland has plenty of holiday destinations to choose from. If you like golf then you’ll love St Andrews, or if hilltop views and green parklands are more your style, a climb up Arthur’s Seat in the heart of Edinburgh is a must-do.
You might not immediately think of beaches when picturing the UK, but Wales has more than its fair share. In addition to snow-capped peaks and wild coastline, Wales is also home to Barafundle Bay – often voted one of the best (but not necessarily the warmest) beaches in the world.
The Giant’s Causeway sits almost exactly halfway between Northern Ireland’s colourful capital of Belfast and the fun-filled, walled city of Londonerry (Derry or ‘Legenderry’ to locals). Built by a giant (or so says myth and legend), the causeway is made up of tens of thousands of interlocking basalt columns that form ‘stepping stones’ into the sea.
