If I had to give only one piece of advice to an international student who wants to succeed, it would be to get involved and a big part of that is attending your classes. I know that it can be really hard to do that when you're studying online from home, but that's the most important piece. You get the opportunity to participate in class discussions and to meet your classmates. And so that's really important to your success. Outside of that, we also have webinars and online events that you can participate in. So we would be happy to have you join us for those.

Hi, my name is Nick Lopez, I work with Claremont Graduate University as the assistant director of admissions. Really defining your roadmap and understanding what experience is most important to you both academically and personally that you can combine while you're starting your journey within your first year is the best way to really map out your success and understand that meeting with your support team early and often is the best way to ensure that success, so you don't miss out on opportunities that you're looking forward to.

My personal tip for international students is to get involved outside of the classroom as best as you can. There are an abundance of options for extracurricular activities, intramural sports and all sorts of ways to connect with other Carlton students on campus. As a former Carlton student, one of my favorite parts about my university experience was getting involved in those extracurriculars and different sports available on campus. It was a great way to meet friends with similar interests and friends across different years at the university. I really enjoyed it.

They both said I would help our international student is to get involved at Poolesville University, we hold a ton of events throughout the year. So whether it's industry professionals or alumni events, you should go do your homework about the speakers, go talk to them, have meaningful conversations, exchange information, join our student club and become an officer or a mentor. Taught the students that are from outside of your country, teach them about your country, get to know about their country. You know, really, the key thing is to network, network, network.

Then foremost, you are relocating to a new country, so approach this experience with an open mind. My only advice for you would be to make as many friends as possible network with peers, industry leaders, professors, explore all the resources that are available for you on campus, get involved in both in campus activities as well as community service.

I think it is extremely important to try not to be shy and make friends with not just people who speak your language, but American friends as well, so that you can truly gain the full experience of studying in the US. Second, also really ask for help if you need it. Don't be shy. Reach out to your professors, your peers, as well as administrators so they can get the help early and not wait until the end where you feel like you're falling behind. Stay positive. That will be my advice.

One piece of advice that I have for international students studying in the US is to get involved on campus as much as possible. It's a really great way to meet other students, connect with faculty and staff and really integrate with the campus community. Whether you're at the undergraduate or postgraduate level, there are a lot of clubs and organizations you can join and some leadership opportunities that you can take part of too, which is a great way to enhance your resume. Whatever you do, make sure that you're brave, put your name out there and get involved as much as you can.
