PGCE - Chemistry with Balanced Science

Chemistry is the scientific study of the properties and behaviour of matter. In natural science, that covers elements that make up matter to the compounds of atoms, molecules and ions: their composition, structure, properties, behaviour and the changes they undergo during a reaction with other substances. At Aberystwyth University, our PGCE Chemistry with Balanced Science degree will equip future teachers with the professional skills to develop learners understanding of Chemistry and its applications. Students on this course will be trained to teach ambitious and capable learners who are informed and confident about the world beyond school.

UK Bachelors (Honours) degree, or international equivalent, in a relevant subject area. A minimum of 50% of the content of this Bachelor’s degree should have relevance to the subject you want to teach (i.e. Chemistry). GCSE Grade C in either English Language or Welsh Language (First Language). Grade C in GCSE Mathematics or Mathematics-Numeracy is also required. Other qualifications that demonstrate achievement at the same level are also acceptable. IELTS IELTS 7.0 with minimum 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.
