Each AUT Doctoral Scholarship consists of an annual stipend of NZ$33,000, plus tuition fees and compulsory student services fee for up to three years. This scholarship is open to all applicants (including those from countries other than New Zealand), who meet the admission requirements for a doctoral programme and have received an Offer of Place for the doctoral programme at AUT.
The AUT International scholarships award current full-time AUT students who excel academically NZ$5-7,000 towards their fees in their first year of studies. This scholarship is available to international students from the following regions.

Some of the programmes that are particularly popular with international students include undergraduate degrees in arts, business, engineering and health, and postgraduate qualifications in marketing, science, computing and construction management.
Master's programmes at AUT are offered as either research or taught programmes. Research programmes involve advanced learning by conducting research, which gives students specialised knowledge in an area they have previously studied and transferable skills to stand out in the highly competitive employment market. Taught programmes are taught in class and are designed to accelerate students' career or take it in a new direction entirely.
Doctoral programmes, including the Doctor of Philosophy, generally take a minimum of three years full-time study and are undertaken by research only. In these programmes, students can make a significant original contribution to knowledge and understanding in their field of study, supported by AUT academic supervisors who are recognised world-class researchers in their fields.
