AUT Global International exchange programme

International students who are interested in exploring the world while they complete their AUT degree, may be able to complete up to two semesters at one of the AUT's partner institutions on an international exchange.

Study abroad programme

International students can also choose to come to AUT through the Study Abroad programme for a semester or a year in their chosen major or in a different discipline. This will help them cross-credit points they earn at AUT towards their home degree while giving them valuable international experience.

AUT doctoral scholarships

Each AUT Doctoral Scholarship consists of an annual stipend of NZ$33,000, plus tuition fees and compulsory student services fee for up to three years. This scholarship is open to all applicants (including those from countries other than New Zealand), who meet the admission requirements for a doctoral programme and have received an Offer of Place for the doctoral programme at AUT.

AUT International scholarships for specific regions

The AUT International scholarships award current full-time AUT students who excel academically NZ$5-7,000 towards their fees in their first year of studies. This scholarship is available to international students from the following regions.

• North Asia: China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Mongolia, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and Republic of Korea
• South Asia: Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives

Master's programmes

Master's programmes at AUT are offered as either research or taught programmes. Taught programmes are taught in class and are designed to accelerate students' career or take it in a new direction entirely.

Doctoral programmes

Doctoral programmes, including the Doctor of Philosophy, generally take a minimum of three years full-time study and are undertaken by research only.
