PhD/MPhil in Mathematics - Operational Research

Operational Research is a research area within which you can focus your studies as part of our suite of Mathematics research programmes (MPhil, PhD). The School is part of the EPSRC Science and Innovation funded LANCS Initiative in the Mathematical Underpinnings of Operational Research. The following specialisations are available within this research area: Modelling of traffic flow, Healthcare modelling, Modelling of the spread of infectious diseases, Queueing theory, Scheduling and timetabling problems, Metaheuristics and Discrete optimisation.

Full-time duration - PhD 3.5 years, MPhil 1 year

Suitable for graduates in Mathematics (or a suitable related field). A 1st or upper 2nd class UK Honours degree, or equivalent is required.
IELTS (Academic) - 6.5 (with at least 5.5 in each sub-score)
TOEFL (iBT) - At least 90 with minimum scores of 17 for writing, 17 for listening, 18 for reading and 20 for speaking
International Baccalaureate (Language A) - HL 4 or SL 5
