Bachelor of Science in Risk Management/Insurance/Master of Science in Risk Management and Insurance

The Florida State University College of Business offers select undergraduate majors the option of accelerating their studies and getting a head start on graduate school. Combined bachelor's/master's pathways allow prospective students to substitute specific graduate coursework for undergraduate classes and count up to three courses toward both bachelor's and master's degrees, which may save them time and money.

Housed in the Department of Risk Management/Insurance, Real Estate and Legal Studies, the Risk Management/Insurance major at Florida State University consistently ranks among the top programs in the nation. It is designed to provide students with an overall background in risk management, life and health insurer operations and products, property and casualty operations and products, financial planning, and employee benefits.

The placement rate for graduates of the program has been excellent. In addition to the university's Career Center activities, the department holds Insurance Days, its own two-day placement program for RMI majors focusing on internships and full-time jobs. The fast-tracking of many training programs available through our department provide students with a competitive advantage over other new hires.

An applicant who desires admission as a first year in college student must be graduated from a regionally accredited high school (or comparable international institution). All transcripts/academic records that are not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations. If the transcript/academic record does not indicate the degree earned and date the degree was awarded, separate proof of degree is required. We require freshman applicants to submit at least one ACT and/or SAT test score to be considered for admission. Florida State does not require the optional ACT writing score or the optional SAT essay. We encourage applicants to take both the ACT and SAT, and to attempt each exam more than one time to earn the highest possible score.
