The university places strong emphasis on professional development: 67 percent of students participated in an internship (and many did two), according to the most recent Alumni Outcomes survey. Students who meet the English language and entry requirements for an undergraduate program can make a direct application to Hofstra University to pursue a degree program.
Students can earn degree credits while improving their academic and English language skills. Students will be able to complete a Pathway program suited to their English language abilities, up to three semesters in length.
This program is for students who have already undertaken a college or university course and are looking to transfer to Hofstra University, putting their completed credits towards their new degree.
Direct Entry into a postgraduate degree program at Hofstra University requires students to meet the entry requirements, including attainment of a bachelor's degree of a high standard. They also need to demonstrate the requisite level of English proficiency.
This program is for international students with a high level of English proficiency that require support with academic skills to complete a master's degree and prepare for GMAT/GRE tests. The IMP is a one-semester option that requires students to take nine credits of graduate degree courses during their first semester. This program awards an I-20, and students complete their master's in the same amount of time as Direct Entry students.
This Pathway program is for international students looking to develop the academic and English language skills required to complete a master's degree and prepare for GMAT/GRE tests. The Graduate Pathway is a two-semester program. Some of the credits will apply towards the master's degree.
Students enrolled in this program will develop their English language, academic and critical thinking skills, helping them excel in US higher education.
To be eligible to study at INTO Hofstra University, students need to meet some entry requirements.
Academic requirements: a high school diploma and a minimum GPA of 3.0, or equivalent. Additional requirements and materials may be required, depending on the program.
English language requirements: a minimum IELTS score of 6.5; a minimum TOEFL score of 80 or equivalent.
Academic requirements: a high school diploma and a minimum GPA of 2.5, or equivalent.
English language requirements: a minimum IELTS score of 5.0; a minimum TOEFL score of 50 or equivalent.
Academic requirements: a high school diploma, a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a minimum of 24 college or university transfer credits.
English language requirements: a minimum IELTS score of 5.5; a minimum TOEFL score of 60 or equivalent.
Applicants need to demonstrate a minimum GPA of 3.0 (or its equivalent), alongside the completion of a bachelor's level degree.
The English language requirements for this course include an IELTS score of 6.5 or more, or a TOEFL score of at least 80, or equivalent score from another test.
Integrated Master's
Academic requirements: depending on the course, students need to have completed their first degree, diploma or equivalent; have the equivalent GPA of 2.5–3.0; and meet any other specific program requirements.
English language requirements: a minimum IELTS score of 6.5; a minimum TOEFL score of 79 or equivalent.

Hofstra University provides a range of scholarships for students pursuing Pathway programs.
Awards include:
Eligible students enrolled in an International Year One or Undergraduate Transfer Program may receive a scholarship of up to 15,000 USD. Eligible students enrolled in a Graduate Pathway program may receive up to 12,000 USD. The award is dependent on availability for particular regions and may have additional eligibility requirements.
This scholarship is open to eligible students who have completed an International Year One or Undergraduate Transfer Program and are planning to progress to an academic program at Hofstra University. They may receive a scholarship of up to 13,000 USD per year, renewable for up to three years. To be eligible for this award, students need to demonstrate a GPA achievement of 3.5+ (for a maximum 10,000 USD per year award) and a GPA achievement of 3.75+ (for a maximum 13,000 USD per year award) in addition to meeting progression requirements.
Eligible students pursuing an Integrated Master's Program or Graduate Pathway program (and want to progress to an academic program at Hofstra University) may receive a scholarship of up to 4,000 USD per year, renewable for up to one year. To be eligible for this award, students need to demonstrate a GPA achievement of 3.5+ for a 2,000 USD award and 3.75+ for a 4,000 USD award, in addition to meeting progression requirements.
Eligible students may receive a scholarship of up to 30,000 USD per year, renewable for up to four years. To be eligible, they must have a minimum GPA score of 3.0+ and SAT score of 1150, or a minimum GPA score of 3.5+ without an SAT.
Students have access to the exceptional facilities that can be found across Hofstra University. These include industry-standard technology in learning spaces, comfortable student halls of residence, a large library, several dining options and a fitness center.
Learning resources
Academic facilities include the Frank G. Zarb School of Business, which is a new 52,000-square-foot building, the modern Behavioral Science and Market Research Lab and the Martin B. Greenberg Trading Room, which is home to 34 Bloomberg Professional terminals.
Accommodation
At Hofstra, students will enjoy living in fantastic on-site accommodation. The accommodation for international students is located in Colonial Square. This safe and pleasant area includes several courtyards which are perfect for relaxation and socializing. Helpful staff are available to provide students with assistance. As there are around 3,500 residents, international students are bound to make many friends.
Students will be set up for academic success at the university after completing their Pathway programs. The different Pathways on offer allow students to earn degree credits and improve their English language skills. Afterwards, they can progress to academic degree programs at Hofstra University.
An overwhelming 92 percent of degree recipients are employed or attending graduate school, according to the Alumni Outcomes survey 2022–23. Moreover, 58 percent of degree recipients accepted employment offers at or before graduating, according to the Alumni Outcomes survey 2022-23.
Hofstra gets students ready for the professional world through industry-tailored programs, events, resources and services. This includes Curricular Practical Training (CPT) opportunities like the MBA and engineering co-op programs, industry learning facilities, networking events and other opportunities.
The university helps each student develop an impressive resume that will help them stand out in the competitive job market. Programs with paid co-op (CPT) opportunities have significant earning potential, ranging from 20,000 USD (MBA: 3-5 months) to 40,000 USD (engineering and computer science: 6-8 months).
The CPT does not interfere with the up to three years of Optional Practical Training (OPT). In fact, CPTs help students improve their chances of securing OPT opportunities after graduation.
In June 2021, Hofstra broke ground on a new, 75 million USD Science and Innovation Center. The building is a 75,000 square-foot facility that houses the Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science, as well as the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies. The center has simulation facilities for nursing students and advanced labs for science and engineering students. The building opened in Fall 2023.
The Frank G. Zarb School of Business is a 52,000-square-foot building. It is home to a Behavioral Science and Market Research Lab, a makerspace/start-up incubator and an improved Center for Entrepreneurship. There are independent and group study spaces and many staff and student offices.
The added spaces enhance students' practical learning and gives them the opportunity to experience real-world projects. The Zarb School is located next to the C.V. Starr Hall, which is where the business school's classrooms and lecture spaces are. It has been designed with the environment in mind, as energy-efficient systems and technologies have been installed.
