Certificate of Achievement in 3D Modelling and Visual Effects Production

Humber's 3D Modelling and Visual Effects Production certificate program focuses on both the conceptual and the technical, as you learn to master visual techniques to bring ideas to life. You will develop skills in modelling, texturing and lighting, as well as in visual effects and compositing. We use a teaching process and course structure that requires content created in one course to be used to complete assignments in other courses. This “pipeline” process mirrors that of industry, allowing students to make a seamless transition into a real production environment.

The program is designed by CG and VFX artists for experienced traditional artists andor anyone who is artistically and technically inclined and who want to either develop or transition their skillsets for employment in the 3D and visual effects industries. The faculty take their years of industry experience into the classroom, straight from the studio. Their collective experience and passion in the gaming, television and film industries is the driving force that ensures the program meets the current and future needs of the industry.

The 3D film industry has become a global multibillion-dollar business using the talents of modelers and visual effects specialists. This dynamic program will prepare you to work for large or small production houses in the film, visual effects, animation and gaming sectors. Humber 3D grads have found jobs at Ubisoft, M.A.R.S, Jam Filled, LucasArts, Soho VFX, Sinking Ship Entertainment, KeyFrame Digital, MCP Toronto (formerly Mr. X), Frantic Films and Snowball Studios, among others.

Academic

To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:

A strong design and/or artistic background

Knowledge of either digital design software or a 3D computer animation program would be advantageous

Interested in learning and applying today’s newest technologies, computer literate, and solid knowledge of Windows graphical interface

Applicants will be required to submit a resume and an art portfolio

Minimum IELTS Scores: Overall 6.0 and No band below 5.5

Minimum TOEFL Scores: 550 for paper-based test OR 80 (20L, 20W, 20S, 20R) for internet-based test

Minimum PTE Score of 53 - 57

Minimum EAP Score: Successful completion of all EAP courses with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 60% in Level 8
