The Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT) is a leading public college and Dedicated Learning Institute located in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It provides a quality career-focussed education through an extensive range of industry-driven programs, strong employer connections, and a hands-on learning approach.
Offering a variety of certificate, diploma, and post-graduate programs, MITT gives students the skills they need to succeed at any stage of their career. Programs in the areas of applied business, design and manufacturing technologies, information and communication technology, health care, human services, and skilled trades are delivered across its three Winnipeg campuses.
At MITT, expert instructors and dedicated support staff ensure that students have access to the resources they need to successfully transition from the classroom to successful careers. Instructors give students industry-relevant educations through teaching in-demand skills, providing mentorship, and serving as connection points to industry.
MITT is the only college in Manitoba to integrate employability skills training based on industry feedback into every program it offers, and its Bridging to Work series and workshops are tailored to each program. Work placements are included in many programs, enabling students to gain workplace experience and build connections with employers prior to graduation.
The Student Life team at MITT ensures a range of activities are available for students throughout the year to make friends, learn about other cultures, and network with future colleagues and employers. Winnipeg is a popular student city and is well-connected to the rest of Canada and internationally by road, rail and air.
MITT offers a variety of certificate and diploma programs, and successfully trains thousands of career-ready graduates every year thanks to the expertise of its instructors and staff.
With years of relevant industry experience, MITT faculty understand what students must do to secure the jobs they want. The staff share their extensive knowledge and offer guidance to students, ensuring they are prepared for the workforce after graduation.
MITT programs provide hands-on learning in classrooms, modern simulation labs, and workshops with state-of-the-art industry tools and equipment. Class sizes are intentionally small, ranging from 15 to 30 students, allowing students to feel comfortable and supported in collaborative learning spaces with one-on-one instruction time.
"The instructors were always helpful, and besides giving a really good educational background, they were also a social and emotional support that is really important for students, especially international students," said Paula, a former Early Childhood Education student from Brazil.
MITT is the only college in Manitoba that integrates employability skills training into every program. The career and employment services team helps students develop a career toolkit to transition effectively into the workforce.

All programs marked with an asterisk (*) above are aligned with the post-graduation work permit (PGWP). This means that upon successful completion, international students are eligible to apply for the PGWP to continue to work in Canada after graduation.
MITT's admissions requirements vary on a program-by-program basis. Students should visit the course pages for their program of choice and familiarize themselves with the admissions requirements before applying.
The general admission requirement for college programs is high school graduation (or expected completion within 45 days of the program start date). Students can apply to certificate and diploma programs while still enrolled in high school if they are able to provide an interim transcript.
International students should review the information on the MITT website for general admission requirements based on their country and curriculum of study.
MITT has an English-language proficiency requirement for international students, as English is the language of instruction. Details about English language proficiency can be found on the institute's website. MITT also offers an English for Academic Purposes program for students who do not otherwise meet the English language requirements.
MITT provides affordable education in Canada through competitive tuition fees. Furthermore, Winnipeg is one of the most affordable places to live in Canada, with low cost of living, low utility costs and affordable housing making it popular with students.
MITT students can access financial aid and awards, including entrance awards, bursaries and scholarships. The MITT International Scholarship is awarded based on high academic achievement, and is valued at CAD 1,000.
Students can receive help and advice in applying for any of the college's funding programs, as well as guidance in seeking and applying for external scholarship opportunities.
Each year, MITT helps a significant number of new and current students plan their finances and supplement their funding to ensure a confident and stress-free start to the year. Full information is available on the MITT website.
MITT has three college campuses in Winnipeg. These are home to a selection of programs which are taught in learning spaces ideally suited for hands-on learning, including simulated pharmacies, professional kitchens, and fully equipped skilled trades workshops.
Students gain valuable experience in immersive learning environments where they can practice their skills in modernized simulation labs, using state-of-the-art industry tools and equipment.
All three campuses have facilities for food and drinks to ensure that students are refuelled and refreshed throughout the day. The Henlow Campus offers hot food for breakfast and lunch, as well as grab-and-go items for students who are on the move. Fultz and Pembina campuses similarly have grab-and-go food options, as well as onsite microwaves and vending machines.
In 2025, MITT has launched two new programs: the Cybersecurity Analyst Advanced Diploma and the Medical Assistant and Patient Care Diploma. These programs are designed to meet the needs of industry while equipping students with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in rewarding, high-impact careers.
The two-year Cybersecurity Analyst Advanced Diploma program responds to the need for professionals to protect organizations from growing cyber threats. The cybersecurity field boasts well-paying jobs and exciting career paths, and with the digital landscape always evolving, graduates will have continual opportunities to grow, innovate, and have a meaningful impact.
The two-year Medical Assistant and Patient Care Diploma program is accredited by the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) and designed for evolving health care needs. Tailored for individuals aspiring to play a vital role in health care teams, the program will equip students to enter a field where they can find meaningful and stable work quickly after graduation. With that need spanning different health care settings, graduates can follow their passion and develop impactful careers in hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities.
