Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (Combined Bachelor of Science/Master of Teaching with Teacher Certification in Chemistry (Preschool-Grade 12) and Teacher of Students with Disabilities)

Students who choose a chemistry major will be prepared for professional employment in the chemical and chemistry-related industry, for doctoral study in chemistry or biochemistry, for professional education in fields related to science or for teacher certification.
The Major in Chemistry combines coursework in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics with laboratory work and a required research component. Graduates of this program find employment in industry, matriculate into doctoral or Master's programs or become high school teachers.
The Department is dedicated to teaching in a stimulating environment providing ample opportunity for hands-on experimentation and individual research. Our mission is preparing and positioning motivated individuals for careers or advanced studies in chemistry, biochemistry and chemistry-based sciences. This includes fields such as medicine and pharmacology, expedited by our Articulation Programs, biotechnology and bioengineering.
A Combined Degree program enables undergraduate students to enroll in graduate courses in their senior year, which can be counted towards the completion of both their Bachelor's and Master's degree requirements. The ability to take these swing courses allows students to earn both their Bachelor's and Master's degrees in a shortened period of time, typically within five years.
