University Entrance Option

The University Entrance option is designed for students who have applied to, or intend to apply to, one of Mount Royal’s baccalaureate degree programs but may lack specific admission requirements or do not meet the competitive admission average for the program. Students in the University Entrance option will register primarily in post-secondary courses but are permitted to enroll in high-school equivalency courses in order to meet admission requirements of their intended degree program. Admission to the University Entrance option does not guarantee subsequent admission to a Mount Royal degree program.
The University Entrance option provides learning opportunities for students who wish to:
participate in post-secondary education, and plan to pursue a university degree but may lack the specific admission requirements
enhance their admissibility for a Mount Royal degree program through completion of post-secondary coursework andor high-school equivalency courses
take courses that are required for the completion of a Mount Royal degree while improving their admissibility for degree-level study

High School Applicant: must present a minimum admission average of 60%, calculated on the five appropriate Grade 12 courses.

Admission is competitive. Applicants must meet both the competitive admission average for the specific program and present specific required courses with the minimum required grades. The grade 12 subjects that may be presented for evaluation for admission to University Entrance Option include the following courses from Group A, B, and C. to allow applicants who are missing a specific course requirement or require a higher grade in a specific course an opportunity to upgrade their course(s), specific subjects such as English, mathematics, etc. are not required for admission to the University Entrance Option.

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): 86 (min. 20 in each of four sections)

IELTS (International English Language Test — Academic): 6.5 (min. 5.5 on each band)

CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment): 70 (min. 60 in each band)

MET (Michigan English Test) (formerly Michigan English Language Assessment Battery MELAB): 62 (min. 53 in all four skills)

PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic): 58 (min. 55 in each area)
