Pursue your interest in social equity in leadership, politics, policy, and advocacy, and earn two degrees in less time This BA/MA prepares you for a career in child and community advocacy organizations, policy and research centers, private, charter, and independent schools, and international and non-governmental organizations.

In this BA program in Education Studies, students explore and examine the broader context of education. They learn how education continuously shapes society and how, in turn, society continuously transforms education. Using powerful tools from public policy, advocacy, and social entrepreneurship, students learn how all members of society can influence education at its many levels, whether in school or non school settings, locally, nationally, and internationally.

Through liberal arts and education core courses, students to gain a broad understanding of education from cultural, historical, sociological, political, and economic perspectives. Students dive deeply into a variety of education issues using approaches that are grounded in the social sciences and humanities, while honing relevant interdisciplinary skills such as writing, communication, and qualitative and quantitative methods of research and analysis.

Learning experientially is a key component of the program. Through study abroad, internships, and senior capstone projects, students gain hands-on experience involving educational change and advocacy.

If you will have completed your country's pre-university education (equivalent to U.S. 12th Grade) before arriving to NYU, or if any of the following apply to you, you are eligible to apply to NYU as a first-year applicant:

You are completing an internationally-recognized equivalent, such as the IB Diploma, or
You are applying from countries with school leaving qualifications based on the British educational model, and will have completed the A-level equivalent (neither O-levels nor (I)GCSE results will be sufficient for admission), or
You are currently enrolled in a foundation year program outside of the United States and have completed secondary school graduation requirements from your country as outlined in the International Qualifications Tool, or
Your highest degree earned by the time you plan to enroll at NYU is either a certificate or diploma.
