Bachelor of Science in Business - Finance

Finance provides the technical and analytical skills necessary to understand how financial markets function, as well as how businesses operate and make decisions within these markets. This concentration will help prepare you to enter the finance industry whether in financial institutions and divisions or in government or non-profit institutions.

The finance curriculum can be divided into two subfields: corporate finance and investments/capital markets. Note that the material in several courses overlaps both subfields. If you are not concentrating in Finance but would like to have some exposure to corporate finance and investment/capital markets, Foundations of Finance (FINC-UB 2) followed by Corporate Finance (FINC-UB 7) provides an excellent overview of these two areas in finance.

The NYU Stern School of Business offers a STEM-certified Bachelor of Science degree that integrates an exceptional business education with a grounding in the liberal arts. By combining courses in business fundamentals with a broad-based liberal arts foundation, future business leaders are given the skills, expertise, and intellectual sophistication needed to advance in today's dynamic business environment. NYU Stern students take elective courses from across the University to broaden their intellectual experience. Students may also pursue a minor or a second major in the College of Arts & Science in areas ranging from psychology to the fine arts, or they can choose to minor at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, & Human Development, the Tisch School of the Arts, the Tandon School of Engineering, or the Silver School of Social Work. Students can also participate in one of NYU Stern's many cross-school interdisciplinary minors offered in conjunction with the College of Arts & Science, the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education & Human Development, the Tisch School of the Arts, and the Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. NYU Stern also offers a comprehensive variety of semester abroad programs and short-term immersion opportunities.

If you will have completed your country's pre-university education (equivalent to U.S. 12th Grade) before arriving to NYU, or if any of the following apply to you, you are eligible to apply to NYU as a first-year applicant:

You are completing an internationally-recognized equivalent, such as the IB Diploma, or
You are applying from countries with school leaving qualifications based on the British educational model, and will have completed the A-level equivalent (neither O-levels nor (I)GCSE results will be sufficient for admission), or
You are currently enrolled in a foundation year program outside of the United States and have completed secondary school graduation requirements from your country as outlined in the International Qualifications Tool, or
Your highest degree earned by the time you plan to enroll at NYU is either a certificate or diploma.
