ONCAMPUS is an educational pathway designed for international students who wish to study at a leading university but who don't yet meet the requirements for a direct application. The campus-based study centres provide students with the academic and English-language skills they need to progress to top universities, while immersing themselves in campus culture from day one. Students benefit from extensive support to help them reach their full potential and enjoy a seamless and assured progression to university.
Students at ONCAMPUS Loughborough will benefit from the fantastic student community atmosphere of the campus and the exciting opportunities provided by an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification upon completion of their course. Loughborough University is regularly ranked as one of the best universities in the UK by several major guides (Consistently ranked TOP 10 UK University by the Complete University Guide, 2017-2024), with excellent facilities and opportunities for its students.
International students are guided through the study programme over one, two or three semesters – depending on their level at entry - gaining essential skills in their chosen field and developing their English language skills. Upon completion, they are fully prepared to move on to a full degree at Loughborough University and move closer to achieving their career goals. Studying with ONCAMPUS at Loughborough opens the door to study at a top UK institution and an excellent future career.
The ONCAMPUS study centre is situated at the heart of the Loughborough campus, allowing students easy access to additional learning resources and the university's wider facilities, while the town of Loughborough is within easy reach, along with public transport links to the nearby cities of Leicester and Nottingham.
Students will benefit from excellent facilities and supportive teaching staff during their foundation programme. Courses are designed for students who are not quite ready for direct application to university, and so they are structured in a way that is supportive and helps to bring students to the necessary level for progression to an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
Teaching staff are adept at teaching complex subject matter in a way that is easy to understand, especially for those students who are also improving their English language comprehension alongside their studies.
All the degree options will include three academic subject modules, as well as English. English tuition is integrated into the academic subject teaching but is also provided as a separate module for students who need extra support. Students will be expected to do some of their own study around classroom hours, but help will be given to students to understand the requirements and help them adapt to UK university life and their next steps on a progression degree.
Students can choose from five different academic pathways for their foundation programme. A sixth option is the Pre-Master's Programme, which covers broad subjects and is designed for students who are looking to move directly onto a postgraduate qualification upon completion. The five foundation pathways and their academic modules are as follows:
Business, Economics, Finance and Management
Engineering & Physical Sciences
Humanities & Social Sciences
Life Sciences
Art & Design
Modules are subject to availability and may vary for each course, while ensuring students are always assigned relevant modules for their chosen pathway.
The foundation programmes are designed for students who have completed a secondary school education in their home country. There are academic requirements for applying for a foundation programme at ONCAMPUS Loughborough, but these vary by country of study. Students are advised to check the requirements on the ONCAMPUS website to determine what they must achieve to apply.
Students must also be able to speak and understand English. For acceptance onto a two-semester programme, students must have an IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent, with no individual element below 5.0. The Pre-Master's Programme requires a higher IELTS score of 5.5. Students who don't meet these scores will be asked to choose a three-semester programme, which includes an initial semester of English study.
Students must have a passport and a valid visa for study in the UK (upon acceptance of an offer from ONCAMPUS). They will need proof of payment, or a letter showing sponsorship, and all original academic documents, including IELTS test scores and high school certificates.
Students on an ONCAMPUS foundation programme at Loughborough University will benefit from the contemporary learning spaces of the university, offering comfortable surroundings in which to learn and develop. Students will then be able to use Loughborough's outstanding campus facilities even further upon completion of their programme and successful enrolment on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, depending on their foundation course.
These facilities include the Pilkington Library, open 24/7 with an extensive collection of learning resources and ample study spaces, as well as an in-house PC clinic. There are also many course-specific facilities tailored to individual study programmes, such as the excellent STEMLab used by science and engineering students.
Loughborough University also has outstanding sporting facilities, including the only Elite Athlete Centre in the UK and several other athletics, gym, and swimming facilities alongside outdoor and indoor pitches for various sports.
The town of Loughborough has ample leisure facilities for students to enjoy and is only a short walk from the campus.
Accommodation options are available on the Loughborough campus for students.
