Transcripts: You must submit transcripts from your degree-granting institutions and from those institutions whose grades were transferred to your degree-granting institution, unless those grades appear on your final transcript. It is not necessary to submit transcripts from summer coursework or study abroad if those classes were not required for your degree, they total fewer than nine credit hours, and completion of those courses is already reflected on your main transcript. Standardized Test Score: All applicants must provide a GRE/GMAT score to be eligible for the Rice Master of Accounting program. Applicants with strong academic performance may be considered for a standardized test score waiver. Essays: All applicants will submit a Statement of Purpose.
Required: Statement of Purpose Describe your short-term and long-term career goals, and how the MAcc will help you achieve those goals. Include in your discussion: Where do you see yourself in one, five and 10 years after completing the MAcc, and why are you interested in earning a MAcc degree from Rice? (Maximum 750 words)
Optional: Scholarship Essay Describe for the Admissions Committee what unique background, talents, experiences, or skills sets you apart from other applicants.
R'sum: You will be required to upload your r'sum as you complete the online application. Your uploaded r'sum should be one page in length and in the PDF format. The r'sum should highlight your academic, extracurricular and professional achievements.
Confidential evaluations: Select two people who, based on their relationship with you, can evaluate your potential to succeed in a rigorous master of accounting program and in your subsequent professional business career. Interview: Once an application is completed, the admissions committee may request an evaluative interview. Interviews are by invitation only after all materials have been received and initially reviewed. Candidates from outside of Houston can arrange to conduct their interviews via Skype. However, visiting the campus for a face-to-face interview will allow for class visits and a tour of facilities. All test scores are valid for two years. Please allow at least four weeks for your test results to reach us. Applicants should score at least 90 on the iBT (internet-based) TOEFL or at least 600 on the paper-based TOEFL. For students who choose to take the IELTS in lieu of TOEFL, the minimum score is 7. In general, applicants should have at least a 3.0 (B) grade point average, or the equivalent, in their undergraduate work.
