The University of Western Australia (UWA) is the only university in Western Australia to be ranked in the world top 100 universities (QS World University Rankings 2024).

UWA's main campus is located in Perth, Western Australia and is home to more than 25,000 students. Perth is Australia's fourth-largest city with over two million people from a variety of cultures worldwide, a strong economy and vibrant lifestyle. English language requirements

All international applicants are required to have a recognised English language qualification such as IELTS or equivalent. A higher level of English is required for some courses. Alternate entry options

There are several pathways through which students can gain acceptance to study at UWA. Some students are unable to enter the university directly after completing high school in their home countries. These students are encouraged to take a pre-university course known as a foundation programme.

Undergraduate studies

Students who wish to gain entry to an undergraduate degree course must demonstrate academic performance through school-leaving qualifications or previous study. The university accepts overseas qualifications in applications for study.

Postgraduate studies

Applicants for postgraduate courses are expected to have completed an undergraduate degree at an approved university. Applicants for MPhil or doctoral programmes must demonstrate sufficient experience in research.

High-achieving students are automatically awarded an annual tuition fee discount. When students begin study in 2024, they can receive:

• Up to AUD 48,000 over four years for undergraduates commencing eligible courses
• Up to AUD 36,000 over three years for undergraduates commencing eligible courses
• Up to AUD 24,000 over two years for postgraduates commencing eligible courses

Global Sporting Excellence Scholarship

UWA's Global Sporting Excellence Scholarship is awarded to high-performing athletes from an eligible country and commencing a course in which this scholarship is available. When commencing studies in 2024 they can receive:

• Up to AUD 48,000 over four years for undergraduates commencing eligible courses
• Up to AUD 36,000 over three years for undergraduates commencing eligible courses
• Up to AUD 24,000 over two years for postgraduates commencing eligible courses

UWA's Global Excellence Scholarship will be available in 2024 to support high-achieving undergraduate and postgraduate students. The scholarship will be automatically awarded to eligible students based on the ATAR/WAM requirements.
