Professional Doctorate (Research)

This Professional Doctorate (Research) is a research degree which facilitates you in researching ideas for change. Supported by nine research training subjects, you are required to conduct independent research under the supervision of experts in your field. You will be required to identify and source your own organisational partner and choose one of the professional practice streams in your chosen field These include leadership, change management, Policy and governance, technology, and innovation. If you have already completed a qualification you may be able to gain credit with us to recognise your prior learning. Please talk to the team about our Credit Policy. Our Higher Degree by Research courses allows you to develop your research skills, so you are work-ready in academic and industry contexts. By conducting original research, you will craft your professional identity and be able to communicate the impact of your findings for advanced professional practice to interested stakeholders in real-world applications.

The Professional Doctorate (Research) is comprised of independent research under the guidance of experienced supervisors, culminating in the submission of a thesis and advanced professional practice portfolio. You will be required to provide an Expression of Interest including professional experience and your stream of interest as part of your initial application. The course streams include leadership, innovation, technology, policy and governance and change management applied in your chosen professional sector. The following nine research training units are to be completed for the Professional Doctorate (Research), eight to exit with the Graduate Diploma of Research.

Successful completion of a Master's degree or above from an Australian university or overseas equivalent

Seven years’ practice at an advanced level in a position of responsibility or five years practice at an executive level and currently in a position of influence in the chosen profession

OR

An extensive track record of executive achievement in the workplace or in professional practice

OR

Work life experience demonstrating the ability to undertake study at the required level which may include approval of prior study or successful completion of a readiness assessment.

Academic IELTS 6.5 (no band less than 6.0) or equivalent.
