Master of Arts Counselling Psychology

The Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology (CPSY) program provides a quality learning experience for those seeking employment in counselling and related fields.

Graduates are equipped to work professionally in a variety of settings or to pursue doctoral studies in counselling or clinical psychology. Our graduate-level master of counselling program is fully accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counsellor Education Programs CACEP. With a wide range of counselling approaches and research interests, faculty are distinguished by recognized scholarship and clinical expertise. Full-time faculty have earned doctorates in counselling psychology or a related field. They are licensed psychologists or therapists who are active in research, publication, and professional advocacy. Our instructors are well-positioned to lead students through their graduate studies and practicum placements successfully and effectively.

You have earned a 4-year B.A. degree in Psychology (honors psychology preferred), or an equivalent 4-year degree, from an accredited institution. You have successfully completed all pre-requisite courses and admission requirements to the program.

You have earned a 4-year degree from an accredited institution, but do not meet all admission requirements. In this case, you may receive a conditional acceptance pending successful completion (minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher) of pre-requisite course(s) prior to starting the program.

The minimum G.P.A. for admission is 3.0 (or B) based on the last two years of the B.A. (presuming these include predominantly upper-level courses) and the minimum grades of four of the upper-level prerequisite courses* in psychology must be 3.7 (A-).

In addition to the standard admissions requirements international applicants are required to submit either a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score as proof of your English language abilities. Minimum TOEFL score for any graduate program is 100 iBT or equivalent. Minimum IELTS score for any graduate program is 7.0 on all bands.

Applications for the fall term (beginning in September) should be submitted on or before the deadline of January 31. Applications for the spring term (beginning in January) should be submitted on or before the deadline of October 15.
