BSc (Hons) (NFQ Level 8) and MSc (NFQ Level 9) Computer Science, Mathematics and Education

If you are interested in Mathematics and Computer Science, and think you might like to teach these subjects at post-primary level, then this degree subject may be for you. It's designed so that you study mathematics, computer science and education in an integrated manner.

Throughout the course you will gain teaching experience through structured educational placements.

The four-year BSc Computer Science, Mathematics & Education leads directly to the one-year MSc Mathematics and Science Education. On completion of both degrees, you should be fully qualified to teach Computer Science and Mathematics to Higher Level Leaving Certificate Level.

Placements are integrated into this course from first year, with year-long placements at two different post-primary schools during the final two years of the course.

Leaving Certificate:

O2 or H6 in Mathematics
O2 or H6 in a laboratory science (Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or Geography may be used instead of a laboratory science subject) and
O6 or H7 in English, Irish and two other recognised subjects

International A Level - At least three subjects at A Level Grade C or better and Grade C or better in the remaining subjects at GCSE a total of six distinct subjects required.
If you are -
presenting the Irish school leaving certificate you are required to have attained a H7 or O6 in English.
presenting other examinations through English you are required to have the opens in a new window specified equivalent.
IELTS - An average score of 6.5 over all components and a minimum of 6.0 in each band.
TOEFL IBT - iBT 90 no less than 21 in writing and at least 19 in every other section in the Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL.
