Entry requirements for University of British Columbia
The candidate must possess a B.Mus. or B.A. degree which entails completion of the following U.B.C. courses or their equivalents: Music 100/101/105, 200/201/205, 300, and two of 410-415, 120/121, 220/221 and 241. In addition, at least three of the upper level history courses (350, 352, 353, 354, 355, 356, 357) are essential.

As part of the application, you must submit: A paper, or papers, dealing with some aspect of musicology that is representative of your work to date. A Statement of Intent. Your Statement of Intent should outline areas of interest, current and future research plans, and why you feel that UBC would be a suitable place to pursue your degree program.
IELTS - A minimum overall band score of 6.5 is required with a minimum score of 6.0 in each component.
TOEFL IBT - 90 for the internet-based exam with minimum component scores of 22 (Reading, Listening) and 21 (Writing, Speaking).
PTE - A minimum overall score of 65 on the academic (NOT general) test is required with minimums of 60 reading, 60 writing, 60 listening, and 60 speaking.
