Master of Music in Vocal

Lift your voice. You love to sing. Anywhere and everywhere. It just feels like the natural thing to do. Share your voice in a choir, opera or chorale. It is, after all, your greatest instrument. Private study, taught by nationally recognized faculty, is at the core of the vocal performance curriculum. Students are evaluated and advised during the audition process. Each student is also heard by a faculty jury at the end of each academic term and at junior and senior recitals. The voice faculty gives special attention to vocal health, excellence in musical understanding and technical proficiency as demonstrated through performance.

Prescreening Requirements:

The prescreening recordings should contain three to four contrasting pieces of varying styles and languages, with at least one opera aria. Please include your name and information about selection and date of each recording (either in the video description or in the submitted file).
A comprehensive list of previously studied repertoire.
A comprehensive performance resume, with categories listed by type (e.g., opera, recital, oratorio, musical, young artist program, etc.), including location and dates.
The application contains 5 sections:

Statement of purpose to share your objectives in pursuing a graduate degree, your area of specialization, interest in studying with faculty at the University of Florida, and your long-term goals.

Letters of recommendation - THREE (3) required letters of recommendation from faculty or professionals who can speak to your ability to be successful in a graduate program. This is completed electronically within the application. You will need your recommenders' email addresses and plan enough time for them to receive and respond to the University request. More information and directions are provided as you complete the online application.

R'sum or curriculum vitae - Pursuant to Florida Statute, your application requires inclusion of all post-high school education and employment, as well as information about ongoing international affiliations and research funding. Please ensure this information is included on your curriculum vitae (CV) or r'sum. There is no additional GA required application form as we use the r'sum for this purpose as well.

GPA - use the calculator by entering earned grades as they appear on your transcript - grades from your upper-division courses (junior/senior years), read the directions carefully to complete this section.

Unofficial transcripts - for the purpose of initial review upload unofficial, scanned copies of transcripts (not screenshots of grades), official transcripts are required separately for applicants who receive an offer of admissions.
Applicants with a bachelor's degree only, a minimum grade point average of B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester where the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours is required. For applicants from countries where English is not the ofcial language, a minimum score on one of these English Language Skills tests, IELTS - 6.0,TOEFL IBT- 80, PBT- 550.
