Master of Arts in Teaching of Latin

THE M.A. PROGRAM in the Teaching of Latin is a terminal masters degree designed for those who wish to train as high-school Latin teachers. It does not lead to further graduate study in Classics. If your intent is to pursue a Ph.D. in Classics, then apply to the Masters Program in classics.
The Department of the Classics offers programs of study leading to the Master of Arts in Classics. Within the master's degree program, students may choose from three options: both Greek and Latin ( Classics), Greek, or Latin. In addition, the department offers the Master of Arts in the Teaching of Latin and the Doctor of Philosophy in Classical Philology. B.A. (or equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (=B), based on the last 60 hours of undergraduate work and any graduate work completed. In exceptional cases, a student may be admitted with a GPA of 2.75 (=B-).103 total on the TOEFL iBT or 7 total on the IELTS. All applicants whose native language is not English must pass the speaking section of the TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 24, or the speaking section of the IELTS with a minimum score of 8.
