Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences

The four-year BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences program prepares students for technical positions in the discovery, development, and manufacturing/production areas of the pharmaceutical industry. It is also excellent preparation for graduate studies in pharmaceutical, medical, and basic sciences, pharmaceutical engineering, or professional education in pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, business, and law. Enrolled students in the BS program are not guaranteed admission to the PharmD program, graduates of the BS program are not eligible for licensure as pharmacists. Graduates will attain basic chemistry, mathematics, biological and biochemical sciences training in UM units other than the College of Pharmacy, while College of Pharmacy courses will be taught by a multidisciplinary College of Pharmacy faculty. Students will generally begin the BSPS degree program after completion of approximately 30 credit hours of course work consistent with the pre-pharmaceutical sciences curriculum. Interested students are invited to apply to transfer into the program during their freshman or sophomore year from any 2 or 4-year accredited institution. Credit for courses taken at other institutions must be accepted by the University of Michigan to fulfill prerequisite and graduation requirements.

Applicants to the BSPS program are invited to apply as either a transfer student from a college/university other than the University of Michigan or as a cross campus transfer student from within the University of Michigan. This distinction is important as there are different application forms depending on the type of transfer. Applicants must have completed at least one full semester of college courses at an accredited 2-year or 4-year institution. Applications are not accepted from students directly out of high school.

MELAB (plus speaking): 85 range with section scores 80+ and 3+ in speaking
TOEFL (PBT): 600 range with section scores 57+
TOEFL (iBT): 100 range with section scores 23+ in listening & reading and 21+ in speaking & writing
IELTS: 7.0 range with section scores 6.5+
ECPE: Certificate with all sections at least a C
CAE: 185 with no less than 180+ in all sections (CEFR C1)
CPE: Pass with B (CEFR C1)
