2.1 in a relevant degree
The MSc programme in clinical exercise rehabilitation is designed to welcome individuals from diverse academic backgrounds who share a keen interest in the field and equip them with the knowledge, skills and competencies to safely and effectively work with patients after traumatic injury and provide innovative interventions for a range of health conditions including injuries sustained in high-pressure environments. The following are the detailed admission requirements:
A 2:1 in a relevant science or health-related subject or appropriate professional experience. Appropriate subject areas include Healthcare, sport rehabilitation, sports and / or exercise science, physical activity & health, strength & conditioning or other relevant biological / biomedical science. Those with a background in engineering will also be considered.
Appropriate professional experience: healthcare, exercise prescription or scientific research.
A Satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) enhanced criminal records check is required upon registration to the course.
Personal Statement: A statement outlining the applicant's interest in clinical exercise rehabilitation, how their undergraduate knowledge and skills, any additional experience and hobbies support their application for the course, career goals, and how the programme aligns with their professional aspirations.
References: Two academic or professional references supporting the applicant's suitability for the programme.
Healthcare
This includes, but is not limited to, degrees in physiotherapy, nursing, or medicine (MBBS or equivalent).
Sport rehabilitation; sport and / or exercise science; strength and conditioning
Applicants with a degree in Sport Rehabilitation, Sports and / or Exercise Science or Strength and Conditioning are suitable for this programme. These fields provide a solid foundation in understanding the physiological aspects of rehabilitation the principles of exercise prescription.
Physical Activity: Applicants with a degree in physical activity & ealth are suitable for this programme as this field provides a solid understanding of anatomy & physiology and the foundations of exercise science.
Engineering: Applicants with a background in engineering are encouraged to apply, particularly those with a degree in biomedical engineering. This allows for the integration of engineering principles with rehabilitation techniques to develop innovative solutions.
Biological Science: This includes degrees in biological sciences (such as biology, biochemistry, or physiology), and nutrition and dietetics. These backgrounds contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the scientific principles underpinning clinical exercise rehabilitation.
Work experience
While not mandatory, relevant work experience in healthcare, strength & conditioning, exercise prescription or scientific research can strengthen the application.
IELTS - 6.5 (no less than 6.0 in any element), TOEFL (iBT) - 90 (minimum 19 in writing and listening, 20 in reading and 22 in speaking)
