Entry requirements for University of the Fraser Valley
Option 1: Secondary school (for students with secondary school graduation only)
In order to be admitted to the Bachelor of Kinesiology degree program, applicants must have completed the following requirements (see Note 1):
B.C. secondary school graduation or equivalent.
English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 with a minimum grade of C+ (see Note).
Note: Students may also present English 12, English Literature 12, English 12 First Peoples, AP English, or IB English A (standard level or higher level), or out-of-province equivalent.
One of Statistics 12, Foundations of Mathematics 12, or Pre-calculus 12 with a minimum grade of C.
One of Anatomy and Physiology 12, Biology 12, Chemistry 12, or Physics 12 with a minimum grade of C+ (see Note).
Note: Students following the Exercise Science specialization will need to meet the prerequisites for BIO 111.
Physical and Health Education 11 and/or 12 recommended, or participation in athletic or recreational physical activity.
Option 2: University entrance (for students who have attended some post-secondary school)
In order to be admitted to the second year of the Bachelor of Kinesiology degree program, applicants must have completed the following requirements:
One of KIN 163 or KIN 170 with a minimum grade of C+.
English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 with a minimum grade of C+ (see Note), or completion of ENGL 105 or CMNS 125 with a minimum grade of C-.
Note: Students may also present English 12, English Literature 12, English 12 First Peoples, AP English, or IB English A (standard level or higher level), or out-of-province equivalent.
One of Statistics 12, Foundations of Mathematics 12, or Pre-calculus 12 with a minimum grade of C, or completion of one of STAT 104, STAT 106, or PSYC 110.
An additional 12 university-level credits (either KIN or non-KIN) with an overall GPA of 2.33.
Option 3: Departmental discretionary admission
The Kinesiology department will consider applicants with relevant experience, even though they may not possess the required GPA, course grades, or course currency necessary for entry into the degree program. Students may be required to complete one or more lower-level courses to satisfy any course deficiencies. The Kinesiology department will exercise its discretion in such cases with respect to conditional acceptance into the program.
English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12. Students may also present English 12, English Literature 12, English 12 First Peoples, all with a minimum C+ grade, International Baccalaureate English A (standard level or higher level), Advanced Placement English, or equivalent.
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) IBT score of 88 with no section below 20, or paper-based score of 570 with a TWE (essay) score of 4.5 or higher.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Academic format score of at least 6.5., with no band score less than 6.0.
MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) score of at least 85.
CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language) score of at least 70.
