Master of Science in Computer Science

The thesis-based Master of Science in Computer Science program provides students with skills and knowledge necessary to pursue doctoral studies or a professional career in the rapidly changing computing and technology fields and in the rapidly advancing field of artificial intelligence, considering the MSc in CS – Artificial Intelligence stream outlined below. This is done through course work in specialized areas of computing technology, applications, and theory, as well as participation in research-oriented seminars, and culminates in an original research thesis.

Students pursuing the thesis-based Master of Science in Computer Science program may optionally elect to seek employment through Co-operative education.

Many of our highly reputed faculty members have been awarded grant funding, or work in collaboration with industry, which may provide research assistantship and conference presentation opportunities for students under their supervision.

Graduates of the University of Windsor or of other recognized colleges or universities may be admitted to programs leading to the Master's degree. A student with an honours Bachelor's degree or equivalent with adequate specialization in Computer Science and with at least a 70% average in the major subject may be admitted to a minimum one-year Master's program (II Master's Candidate). A student with an honours Bachelor's degree in a related subject and with at least a 70% average in the major subject may be admitted to a minimum two-year Master's program (I Master's Qualifying followed by II Master's Candidate) or to a minimum two-year II Master's Candidate program depending upon prior qualifications.

International applicants to graduate programs in Computer Science must demonstrate English proficiency by meeting or exceeding an IELTS overall score of 6.5 (or equivalent), with no more than one band scores of 6.0, and no band score below 6.0 (or TOEFL of 92); Minimum Pearson: 65.
