Education

In today’s world where education is a major differentiator of any region or country, Northern Ireland has first-class education at all levels that attracts international talent and competes globally.

There are two world class universities in Northern Ireland:

,

The university was founded in 1845 and is currently ranked 36th in the UK. The Times and Sunday Times University Guide also ranked Queen’s University Belfast 15th overall for Student Experience, 14th for Research and 28th for Graduate Employment. As a member of the Russell Group, Queen’s University Belfast is a world-class research facility.

,

Over 90% of Ulster graduates are able to find work or are undergoing further studies six months after graduation, and more than 4,000 students have successfully completed eLearning courses at Ulster University. The Times Higher Education compared the top 100 institutions that are under 50 years, ranked Ulster as a leading modern University and in the top 100 globally.

Cost of living

The cities in Northern Ireland have the cheapest cost of living compared to other regions in the UK. Northern Ireland also boasts to have low tuition fees for international students, ranging from £10,000 to £16,000. As well as providing numerous scholarships for students.

Food & drink

Despite being part of the UK, the pubs are Irish, and some of these pubs are said to be the world’s best. The nightlife in Northern Ireland is well-known. So, stop by and grab a beer once in a while.

Bearing in mind alcohol isn’t technically a food, what are the two best food groups in the world? That’s right, potatoes and bread! What could be better then, than potato bread (also known as potato cakes), a magnificent combination of the two which you’ll find everywhere in Northern Ireland. Yum!

Potato bread is part of Northern Ireland’s most famous dish, the Ulster Fry. Typically consisting of bacon, eggs, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, potato bread and soda farl (fried soda bread, another Northern Irish favourite). It is similar to the Full English Breakfast only with more bread, which can only be a good thing in our book.

Giant’s causeway

No list of what makes Northern Ireland great would be complete without mentioning “Giant’s Causeway” - The most popular attraction in Northern Ireland. This natural wonder was formed through the result of a volcanic eruption that occurred more than 50 million years ago in County Antrim, on the north eastern coast of Northern Ireland. The National Trust managed visitor centre holds invaluable information for students from geology, physical geography and earth sciences. Many students have written their dissertation on the Causeway.
