The TAFE vocational program offers a wide range of training for people of all ages. 2. How is TAFE different from University?

Between the University program and the Australian TAFE apprenticeship program, there will be differences in the following aspects:

2.1. Teaching methods

While the University program offers the theoretical and practical knowledge to help you enter the most professional working environment, TAFE will focus on training your employability skills to help you feel confident and ready to work after graduation.

Facilities are also equipped to serve practical purposes such as laboratories and libraries. The class sizes of the TAFE program are quite small, which increases the level of interaction and interest between teachers and students.

2.2. Diverse choice of majors

With the nature of TAFE's training, the disciplines will be more practical skills such as fashion, beauty, cooking, baking, business, etc. With many common specializations available at TAFE, you're sure to find the right course for you.

2.3. Qualifications

Once you have completed the course, you will receive certificates equivalent to your study program, including Certificate I to Certificate IV, Diploma, Advance Diploma, and Graduate Certificate. One of the advantages of the TAFE program is that you can choose to progress to a university degree and may be exempt from studying depending on your qualifications.

2.4. Entry Requirements

While universities often require students to graduate from high school with good academic performance or higher, TAFE schools have lower conditions. TAFE only requires students who have completed their studies in Years 10, 11, or 12, to IELTS from only 5.0

2.5. Tuition fees

Compared to Bachelor's and Postgraduate programs, TAFE's courses have quite reasonable tuition fees of only 96 - 288 million VND/year. The time spent at TAFE is only 1/2 the time spent studying at universities.

3. What are the requirements for studying Tafe?

If universities require students to have good academic performance, extracurricular achievement, or work experience, TAFE has a much more "pleasant" requirement. You only need to finish the school year with a good or good subject GPA. IELTS requirements will be at 5.0

In case you want to study abroad in Australia but do not yet have an IELTS certificate, you can take additional short-term English courses before entering the main course.

4. TAFE Foundation Course

To find out more about this curriculum, let's explore the basic TAFE courses. The TAFE system consists of 4 basic courses including:

  • Certificate I–IV: These courses teach the basic skills of your field of study such as communication skills and teamwork. This program can last anywhere from a few weeks to a year.

  • Diplomas: Courses that equip you with skills for industry, factory, or semi-professional jobs. These certificates require you to take 12 – 24 months full-time.

  • Advanced diplomas: For those who study certain fields such as Accounting, Civil Design, or Engineering, you can take these courses. Typically, you will have to study for 18 – 24 months to receive this advanced certificate.

  • Vocational graduate certificates/Diplomas: These courses will be equivalent to the advanced level. To earn Certificates, you must study for 6-12 months, and the program for Diplomas within 1-2 years full-time.
