1. Why did you choose to study in Australia?

I'm originally from Assam, an Indian state known for its tea gardens. My hometown is Nalbari, which is a pretty little town. My dream was to study overseas, but I firmly believe that if you work hard for your goals, you will eventually succeed in achieving them.

There are several reasons I decided to study in Australia. My main goals were to obtain a top-notch education and a master's degree in marketing. The prerequisites for admission to a reputable Australian university perfectly matched my educational background. I attempted to apply to other universities in Australia and other nations, such as Ireland, but University of Wollongong (UOW) offered me the finest scholarship choice that suited my budget, and their courses were also well-suited for a professional setting.

The weather in Australia was another factor in my decision; it was a comfortable climate devoid of extremes. Every part of Australia is surrounded by breathtaking scenery, and I have many options for getting outside whenever I want to breathe in some fresh air.

2. How was IDP able to help you?

Yes, there were many obstacles in my way throughout the process, but I persisted in trying, and IDP was always there to help. However, due to a few personal circumstances, the entire application procedure took longer than anticipated.

3. Are there any (major) challenges you faced?

I experienced difficulties because I began my application during the COVID-19 period when borders were blocked. I also had to reapply because my education loan had some issues. I created videos on my Instagram account (@___debopam___) to assist prospective students who are interested in studying in Australia since I wanted other people to avoid having to deal with these same issues.

If you're thinking about studying overseas, you should prepare yourself to overcome obstacles both before and after you arrive in Australia. However, you will gain a great deal of knowledge from these struggles.

4. How did you approach your job search (part-time/full-time)?

Initially, I attempted the traditional method of leaving my CV at several eateries and retail establishments. However, I applied online for Indeed and was hired for my first job. I then worked at one other job and am currently working at another one, both of which involved an online job application. Therefore, in my view, if you have a moment, try applying to different online jobs that are listed on Indeed, Seek, Jora, LinkedIn, and other sites.

Additionally, LinkedIn is highly active in Australia; in the end, LinkedIn can assist you if you require a professional employment. Try to expand your network and make contacts, and make sure your profile is up to date with the kind of work you wish to pursue.

Furthermore, I would advise everyone to conduct themselves professionally when working in any type of job. You'll receive recognition and gratitude for your professionalism, which will benefit you in the long run.

5. What are your goals for your career in Australia?

I'm passionate about marketing, and I think I'm highly creative. I use my creativity in my professional life to improve the company I work for. I want to advance in my job so that I can acquire values and have the chance to update and strengthen my résumé in the most powerful professional context.

6. Is there any advice for international students?

I believe I answered some of the questions with some suggestions. One last thing I would want to add is to never give up on your journey. You will experience ups and downs, but you must remain committed to your work and ambitions. Australia has a lot to offer in terms of learning new skills and effectively applying them. I hope the best for everyone.
