1. Why did you choose to study in Australia?

I was born and raised in New Delhi, India. I was fortunate enough to be exposed to a few opportunities early on in my life that made me realise I could live anywhere in the world. Since I’ve always been a travel enthusiast who loves adventure, meeting new people and chasing new experiences, studying abroad had been on my bucket list for the longest time.

I was seeking an experience that would shape my personality and would transform me into a completely new version of myself. My journey has been nothing less than a rollercoaster ride. I just didn’t land myself here in Australia that easily. I had plans to study abroad in 2020 but life took its course, and the pandemic broke out. After a year of struggling to crack the famous civil service examination, I decided to drop it and go back to pursuing my dream of studying abroad.

Time and options were limited as I was looking for the earliest February intake. I browsed through a lot after which I stumbled upon Australia as being the top country offering the best February intakes in the world. Australia is the perfect blend of everything- world top 100 universities, great courses, perfect work life balance, multicultural environment, amazing food and beaches and not such a harsh climate. The two-year courses in Australia give a student ample time to grow.

2. How was IDP able to help you?

Since IDP is a well reputed organisation known for its amazing student experience and success rate I decided to contact the one closest to my location - IDP Nehru Place, New Delhi. I had also heard a lot about it through my previous classmates.

Thanks to my counsellor Karishma Singh, I didn’t face any major challenges during the application process. Even if there were some minor ones that came along the way they were quickly resolved with the help of my counsellor. My journey with IDP has been super smooth and fruitful. My counsellor worked tirelessly to get in my application and track it from time to time. She was generous enough to help me even on a day off. She processed my application with dedication and such sincerity as if it was her own application.

The credibility and personal touch with which IDP functions, sets it apart from all the other agencies. It under promises and over delivers. I ended up recommending IDP to two other friends of mine before leaving for Perth.

3. What are your goals for your career in Australia?

I’m currently enrolled in a two-year master's degree program in Strategic Communications at the University of Western Australia, Perth, WA. I aspire to build a career in communications here in Australia either as a communications strategist, reputation manager, media specialist with a leading organisation or a communications officer with the United Nations to promote a humanitarian cause.

4. Is there any advice for international students?

Take that leap, jump all in, it’ll all be worth it. The biggest gift you can give yourself is to put yourself out there and let life happen to you. Work hard, challenge yourself, learn and most importantly unlearn a few things in life. Discover who you really are by exposing yourself to such experiences. Living independently teaches you a lot about yourself. It’s all about the journey never about the destination.
