Even if your course is shorter, a study permit is required if you intend to continue your studies in Canada by enrolling in another program after completing the initial one. It is important to understand that while the study permit allows you to study in Canada, it is separate from the visa that permits you to enter Canada. For many students, a visitor visa or ETA will also be necessary. 

What are the Requirements for a Canada Study Permit?

In addition to this, if you are required to provide biometrics, there is an additional fee of $85 (CAD) for one person or $170 (CAD) for a family. When you arrive in Canada, you need to present this letter, along with your passport and other relevant documents, to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). The CBSA officer will then issue your study permit, allowing you to begin your studies in Canada.
