Selection is based on academic merit.
The Awards will be made by the University of Auckland Council upon the recommendation of a selection committee comprising the Dean of the Faculty of Science (or nominee), the Associate Dean of Science (Postgraduate) and the Postgraduate Research Adviser (Science)
The Awards will be made to students who have paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, for full-time enrolment in the degree of Master of Science, Master of Speech Language Therapy (Part II) or Master of Bioscience Enterprise. Students who have enrolled in a Master of Arts in the Science disciplines of Geography, Mathematics, Psychology and Statistics are also eligible.
The Awards will be made in Semesters 1 and 2 each year.
Tenure: One year
Selection will be based on academic results from the qualifying degree: if the qualifying degree is a Postgraduate Diploma in Science (PGDipSci) or Bachelors (Honours) degree with a science specialisation the GPA or GPE will be calculated over the best 90 points at 600 level or above in courses from the Science postgraduate course schedules at least 75 of these points must be at 700 level or include a dissertation. If the qualifying degree is a BTech or BOptom degree the GPA will be calculated over the best 90 points (or 10 pre-2006 points) at 400 level or above. For MSLTprac students the GPA will be calculated over the best 90 points from Part I of the degree. If the entry requirements of a Masters degree in a Science discipline are fulfilled by qualifications other than those outlined, the Associate Dean may deem that courses outside the Science postgraduate schedules be included in the points used to assess eligibility.
